Pictures
Pictures can be photos or
images from the web. You can drag & drop most graphic
format files onto the Picture Window and it will display
them. You can also drag & drop an image directly from a
web page. The Picture window displays the image and the
Picture list contains the list of all the images.
Picture Window
Select "Picture Window"
(⌘B)
from the "Pictures" menu, or click the "Pictures" button on
the SonicMood window's toolbar (if visible) to open this
window (click again to close).
Note that, just like the "Moods and Themes" lists, when a
picture is visible you can "Right/Control-click" it to
bring up a contextual menu of useful items.
To add pictures, just drag images (from a browser, for
example) or files (jpg, bmp, gif, tiff, png, photoshop, or
pict) or a folder of images (folders can even be nested)
onto the window.
New picture names are derived from the original names of the files you drop onto the window. If you dragged images from another window (like from a browser), it will have the name "Scenex" (where "x" is a number). You can change that name to something more memorable by bringing up the Picture "List" window (see below).
During a resizing of the Picture window, the image's ratio of width to height (aspect ratio) is preserved. This may result in areas of the window that are not covered by the Picture. If you'd like the Picture to fill the window, you have two choices:
- You could turn off "Preserve Aspect Ratio" and the image will stretch to fill the window.
- You could turn on "Auto Size Window" and the window will stretch to fit the image.
When you add a picture, that image is copied (as a jpeg file) to the "SonicMood/Scenes" folder inside your "Application Support" folder. You may move the originals or delete them and SonicMood will still be able to display the picture.
Picture List
Double-clicking on the image in
the window, selecting "Picture List" (⌥B)
from the "Pictures" menu, or clicking on the "Picture List"
button will cause a window to descend over the Pictures
window. This window contains the list of pictures, each
with a checkbox. If "Close window on double-click" is
checked, then just double-click on the name of the picture
you want to show to close the list and display your
selection.
Change the image displayed by double-clicking on a new "Picture Name" in the "Picture List." An arrow pointer indicates the Picture currently displayed. When you double-click, the selected image will be displayed and the "Picture List" window will close.
You can edit/change the Picture Names in the list. If "Click-Pause-Click on a list cell to edit" is checked (Preferences window, General page), simply click the name twice (with a short pause between clicks). The name should become editable (if not, repeat). Now you can edit the name or type a new one. Press "return" when done or click on another name in the list. You can also select "Edit Highlighted Text" (⌘E) from the Edit menu, or Right/Control-click in the list and select from the contextual menu.
Click on the "Picture Name" header to sort the Pictures by name. Click once to sort ascending. Click again to sort descending. Once sorted, the list cannot be "unsorted."
If you'd like, drag the Picture Names around to reorder them in the list; it's ok to drag several rows at once. You can re-arrange the rows any way you'd like. Note that if one or more rows are moved via a drag, the column header no longer indicates that sorting is in effect.
Delete a Picture by clicking the "-" button, selecting "Delete" from the "Edit" menu, Right/Control-clicking and selecting "Delete" from the contextual menu, or pressing the delete key on your keyboard. You can delete multiple Pictures by highlighting the rows on the list before doing the above.
